On this page I have my lionhead herd as well as a little information on the breed shown.
Lionheads are small sweet
rabbits that are fairly new to the breeding world. The first lionhead to be
imported to America
arrived in 2000. Lionheads were founded on Netherland Dwarfs and Jersey
Wooly breeding lines. Lionheads have compact bodies and bold faces. Their faces
are framed with a mane. Manes are made out of long wool. Unlike the Jersey
Wooly, lionheads are only to have wool on their heads and transition areas
(flanks and hips). Having this break in wool (called a saddle) over a large
portion of their body makes lionheads slightly easier to care for then many of
the thick wooled breeds of rabbits. Lionheads are not an officially registered
ARBA breed. But Theresa Mueller plans to attempt 3rd presentation by the end of
the year. If this presentation is accepted by the ARBA board, two varieties of
lionheads will be accepted into the ARBA as registered breeds. Lionheads can still
be shown at ARBA shows; they are just not eligible for best in show awards.
Lionheads can make great pets. They can be taught to use a litter box, do tricks,
and live much like a dog or a cat as part of the family. I have loved raising
these guys! Welcome to my herd!

Sire: Enchanted Lions Thumper (BEW)
Dam: Lomars Cindy (Chestnut VM)

Breeders comments: "Excellent type on this senior doe. Good width of head, small forward set ears and a bold eye. New mane coming in is thick with nice length to her bib. She excels in body type, compact with very nice depth, roundness and smoothness of HQ, full in the lower HQ to the table. Except for the Vienna markings, this doe would be very competitive for Best of Breed."- Suzanne Hansen
